PARTNERS Apprenticeships in Sustainable Resource Management.We are working with our Work Based Learning partners the Cardiff And Vale of Glamorgan Apprenticeships (CAVA) (Formally the Vale of Glamorgan Training Association) and Cambrian Training Company Ltd to enable Welsh employers operating waste and recycling management services to access fully funded Apprenticeships in Sustainable Resource Management. Financed by DfES (Dept for Education and Skills) this Apprenticeship can be delivered free of charge by ourselves to all employed status learners.“Cylch is currently working closely with EU Skills, the Welsh Government and other key stakeholders to identify the potential demand in Wales for the new Apprenticeship in Sustainable Resource Management (SRM) and we wish to invite you to express the level of potential interest within your own organisation so we can more fully assess the level of potential demand and thereby more accurately identify the level of support and resource required to deliver the SRM programme in Wales.Registration onto the SRM Apprenticeship is available at Levels 2 and 3 .Cylch is presently delivering the SRM Apprenticeship with our Work Based Learning Partner Vale of Glamorgan Training Association and the Quality Skills Alliance (QSA) (which is a collaboration of high performing WBL providers in Wales.) Following the succesful completion of Stage 1 of our Cylch Engage programme, which enabled 267 long term unemployed people to access fully paid 9 month work placements within the Recycling and Environmental management sector in Wales.

Stage 2 of this programme went live on Monday the 26th of September.

STRATEGICS SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (SRM Apprenticeship)Businesses across Wales are now increasingly realising the enormous benefits that apprenticeships create, not only in terms of a highly skilled workforce but also by boosting productivity and staff retention. Apprentices involved in the programme will receive a nationally recognised qualification that has real currency.The Environmental Management industry is developing rapidly as populations grow and governments and businesses look for alternatives to landfill for political, social, economic and environmental reasons. As a new apprentice, you would train ‘on the job’ learning all about different aspects of the waste management and recycling industry. You could undertake roles in the collection, transport, treatment and final management of waste and recyclables at both operator and supervisory levels. Apprentices usually train for about 20/–24 months (Level 2 – Intermediate) or 30/–36 months (Level 3 – Advanced). In Wales, the Sustainable Resource Management Apprenticeship scheme is open to all new and existing employees of any age working within the environmental management industry. The cost of the training is funded by the Welsh Government 's Department for Education and Skills (DfES) Work Based Learning programme. ADVERTISING WASTE MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY TRAININING AND ADVISORY BOARD (WAMITAB)We are, an all Wales WAMITAB accredited training centre and we can deliver all WAMITAB Waste Management and Recycling Industry specific qualifications in either Welsh or English.All WAMITAB awards and training courses are assessed by our industry experienced and qualified assessors. We work with our customers to plan how you can attain your qualifications in the most cost and time effective way.We offer the full range of WAMITAB QCF, CoTC, CoC awards and run waste management workshops to help learners with their knowledge and understanding of the Operators Competence Scheme. WAMITAB qualifications are divided into statutory and non statutory awards. Statutory awards are those that are required by law to undertake certain roles in the waste industry. Non statutory awards provide a way for employees to prove their job competence and gain a real qualification.WAMITAB Vocational Qualifications are designed to demonstrate the ability to do a job to an agreed set of standards. Assessment of competence to carry out job skills takes place at work. This is achieved by the candidate creating a portfolio of evidence which is then assessed.There are different level’s of Technical and Vocational Awards for the Waste and Recycling Management industry starting at Level 1 progressing through to Level 4. The vocational or technical award that is right for you will depend on your job role, experience and the type of site you are working at. Currently 40 WAMITAB Vocational and Technical Qualifications are registered on the Database of Approved Qualifications in Wales (DAQW) . We can assist customers to apply for discretionary funding to finance the costs of all Statutory and Non Statutory Qualifications Registered on DAQW and awarded by WAMITAB.DAQW lists only those qualifications approved by the Minister for Children, Education and Lifelong Learning. MEDIA SHEA - WASTE MANAGEMENTThe SHEA (Waste Management) scheme is affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) to allow utility workers access to CSCS controlled sites for purposes of utilities work without the need to complete a separate CSCS card.Developed in conjunction with industry employers to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines.The core scheme is designed for all persons who require access to operational sites, both permanent and temporary, including all levels of operatives, supervisors and management. A SHEA (Waste Management) card lasts for three years from the date of training.SHEA (Waste Management) comprises of seven modules. It is designed to provide on-site evidence that an individual has demonstrated an appropriate level of knowledge and awareness.The seven core modules are common to all utility industries and form the basis of health, safety and environmental law and practices. Registration is based on successful completion of a training course, after which a cover note will be issued by our trainer and trainees will be registered with EUSR. Once the necessary paperwork and payment have been received the SHEA (Waste Management) card will be issued within 28 days. The training session lasts for approximately one working day and comprises a trainer lead presentation and a series of tests. Trainees will be called upon to share their experiences and thoughts throughout, to build on the course material.This training can only be delivered by trainers who have been trained and approved by Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills). All trainers deliver the same course content and testing. We are the largest provider and accredited trainer for this scheme in Wales, reflecting our industry leading knowlege and technical expertise within the environmental management sector. EPOC EPOC - ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITTING OPERATORS CERTIFICATE EPOC as a course, is an option for demonstrating operator competence for the purpose of operating a permitted waste and resources facility for low risk tier” sites – e.g. inert waste transfer / treatment, in house storage, WEEE storage, MRS (dry scrap –no free flowing liquid).It can also be used by non landfill facilities in the “medium risk tier” or higher risk tier” applying for a new permit and who wishes to make use of a 12 month grace period to obtain the appropriate award.The course may also be of interest to those working on waste and resource management facilities who wish for personal development to have a greater understanding of the legislative implications of holdinga permit.After the course delegates will be able to• Identify potential environmental impacts from wastes and resource facilities and have an awareness of mitigation• Identify key legislation relevant to operating wastes and resource management facilities• Know how the Water Resources Act, Environmental Health and Planning regulations effect you.• Know the key permitting requirements of the Environmental Permitting Regulations • Know how the Environment Agency regulate your activity and identify consequences of non compliance• Understand your responsibilities in holding an environmental permit and key elements of standard rule permits• Explain your responsibilities regarding Duty of Care including using transfer notes and identifying 6 digit EWC codes• Be aware of hazardous waste and the principles of identifying hazardous waste and the basic requirements of consignment.• Identify your basic responsibilities under Heath and Safety and consider how H&S can be improved.The course is designed to encourage interpretation of situations within the context of permitting using a combination of presentations, discussions, case studies and group exercises. Providing expert advice, guidance and support on environmental management sytems, regulations, business planning and much more.Operate Recruitment and Employment programmes for the waste management and recycling sector through our Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) and Future Jobs Fund contracts. We are the largest ILM contractor in Wales.Provide Advice and Guidance on, and have direct access to loan and grant finance for Environmental Management service providers within Wales, for developing capital, revenue and skills within the sector.Are the only accredited Social Accounting provider in Wales, we advise and support social enterprises who wish to demonstrate the social return on investment of their organisations activities.
